anarchydemocracy: (so close you were almost gonna make it)

It's night, and you're out in Rivenport with...Reika?

The two of you are standing out on top of some building, and you're dimly aware of the sound of her 'fans' crooning from below, wondering where she's gone. The teeming hordes that follow her every movement, hang on her every word, that worship the ground she walks on -- they fill you with a peculiar sort of disgust. Most of them -- the most fanatic ones, who often assist her with committing her crimes -- are victims of the power of her voice. You've had the misfortune of dealing with them before.

You just don't understand why she bothers. If she hadn't chosen such a delinquent path, she wouldn't even need them. You'd be more than willing to help her, and maybe she'd have real fans instead of making those who'd actually enjoy her work wary of her.

That's really all besides the point, though. You remember why you're here, and for once you aren't meeting as adversaries. You're both investigating the disappearance of the Empress. You, for somewhat more legitimate reasons than she is, but in any case the both of you were led to the top of this builidng. Why?

Because it has the clearest view of the moon. Reika comes up behind you, draping over your shoulders. "Isn't it romantic, Rachna?"

You groan, pushing her away. "We are not here for romance," you say, though the fact that the idea isn't entirely unappealing leaves you wondering if her magic has affected you, too. It's impossible, you know; you're immune to that sort of thing. More than likely, it's a malfunction brought about by the damage to your regulator.

She pouts, and then flops over on her back, staring up at the moon. "It's almost time. Two minutes, thirty one seconds."

You brace yourself against the ground, and point your fingers skyward. Reika giggles.

"That's so ridiculous! You know you don't have to do that, right?" she says.

"It's not -- this gesture allows me to form a proper electrical coil using my arm as a conduit --"

"Okay. But. You don't actually need to form a coil, or whatever? And even if you did you didn't need to do the fingergun thing. You just think it's cool. It's cute."

"I am not -- " you start, but an internal beeping cuts you off, and the soft hum of your generator ramping up is all that fills the air. Intermittedly, you spout out percentages. Warnings accompany them once you breach 100% capacity. At 300%, Reika stands up, and tosses something into the air -- a ring with displaying the royal coat of arms  -- and starts singing. There's no words. It's more of a somber chant than anything, but the sound of it cuts through the silence of the night, ringing across the city.

Once the ring falls into the trajectory of your coil, you shoot the moon --

-- and miss completely.

Of course, that was the plan. The ring, propelled by you, streaks through the night sky, a bright bolt of energy almost like a bolt of lightning. Reika finishes her song, and below your feet the ground begins to glow. Your signal, evidently, was recieved. There's a rumbling, and everything around you shakes. It all gets brighter and brighter until you can no longer see --

-- and then all at once, everything falls dark and silent, aside from the sounds of the city below. Even Reika's crowd seems to have dispersed. And in front of you is someone you are fairly certain is the Empress' sister.

"Well, well! You summoned me, you summoned me!" when she talks, it's with the voice of a child. One you're not sure is male or female, but it hardly matters.

"Tell us where the Empress is." you snarl, and she seems a bit caught off guard. Of course, Reika immediately stomps on your foot and bumps you away with her hips, a smile on her face. The sister seems amused by the display, giggling and clapping. Reika bows.

"I am so sorry for her! See, she's just a bit upset because --"

"Because sis~ter is missing, right? You're lucky, because I, the Elegant Ojou-Sama, her dear, dear brother --"

" -- you cannot be an 'ojou-sama' and her 'brother' --"

"-- know exactly where she is! But~. I haven't left the moon for decades. And the bor~ing messages those reclaimers keep sending are hardly any company at all! Before I tell you anything, you two are going to show me around and we're gonna have the best time ever!"

You groan audibly, and Reika elbows you in the face.

It's going to be a long night.

CENTRAL

The place I was 'born'. Ruled by an Empress, who went missing shortly after my creation. It is a gigantic, enclosed city, more resembling a facility than a city but appears to be the size of a small country, that has little to no contact with the outside world except through its most senior rulers and a seperate expeditionary military force. The government of this place is the government of Earth, allegedly, though this does not seem to be true in later logs. I serve here as Chief of Security under the direction of Blank, Central's Security AI.

This is assumedly the place that I escape from.

RIVENPORT

The Free City of Rivenport is a city-state located not far from Central. Not much is known about it, except that it is evidently a magnet for strange occurances, and also a bastion of organized (and unorganized) crime. It at some point comes under the rule of Lady Nel, though this does not appear to happen until after the 'coup'. This is where I end up after leaving Central.

EARTH
The planet.
